Marketing During Social Distancing
Mar 22, 2020
Small business owners are frustrated, overwhelmed, and downright scared right now.
Likely, your business has been affected by this Coronavirus pandemic. This slowdown is the perfect time to lean-INTO your business, breath, and re-evaluate how you are marketing.
We are probably all guilty of saying we don't have the time to implement marketing projects in our businesses because we're 'too busy.' We also all tend to work IN our business and not ON our business. Now is the opportune time to do just that, and here are a few ways:
Remain Thankful & Positive
We all get caught up in the businesses of life that we sometimes forget to stop and remember why we are doing what we're doing. Consider this time a gift. An opportunity to pause and reflect on all the blessings we do have. Enjoy the time with your family catching up. Make new memories. Get back to conversations and time together vs. rushing and texting. Above all else, stay positive and thankful for the many blessings you have.
Know Where Your Customers Are
We should always know where our customers are hanging out, and we should be meeting them in those places.
Now more than ever, it's easier for all of us to figure that out. Your target audience is probably at home and on the internet, via their phones, computers, and tablets. So, if your business isn't online already, I strongly suggest you make that move NOW.
Social Media Marketing
Create your business pages on the sites where your customers most likely hang out. You don't have to be in all social places. Just find out where YOUR target audience members are active (Facebook? Twitter? Instagram? Pinterest? TikTok? YouTube?) and GO THERE! Setup your business accounts and become that someone who provides the content they want to see.
Provide valuable content to your blog and then share that content on your social media platforms. One blog article can produce TONS of social media content. Take this time to write great content, create great accompanying graphics, and spread your information while directing your followers back to your blog and website where they can learn more about your business and services.
Your customers need to be hearing from you NOW. Email them with content that is relevant to them. Provide them with positive news and information they can utilize during this pandemic. They need to know you're still available for them so that when we come out of this, you'll be at the forefront of their mind.
Keep Those Face-to-Face Meetings
Some of us may need to continue having conferences or face-to-face meetings with clients and prospects. I encourage you to get to know Zoom. It's free and easy to learn and will allow you to stay social during our social distancing era via video conferencing.
Make It Personal
Record personal video or audio messages for your clients and send them via text or social media outlets. Remind them that just because we're social distancing doesn't mean we're not here for them. Remind them you're thinking of them, your services are available, and you're happy to help them get creative during these strange times.
Educate Via Webinars
Live or streamlined webinars are great ways of building your business. If you've been doing it, or even thinking about doing it, now is better than ever. Get familiar with creating webinars and seminars online. You'll be able to utilize these webinars as well as skills long after this pandemic is over! It's a great way to build your business and get yourself out there into the marketplace to reach more people.
Lastly, We Are Here For YOU!
You may be a do-it-yourselfer, or you may prefer outsourcing these above mentioned projects. Regardless, I encourage you to reflect on how and where you want your business to go, then utilize this downtime to formulate your plan to get there.
If I can help, I'm here for you!
Stay Well & Happy Marketing!
